Pandan Grass, Pandanus amaryllifolius, can only be propagated vegetatively using the roots, cuttings and shoots that arise from aerial roots. It is vulnerable after transplanting in winter or dry summer but resilient after hardening. If the roots remain intact, it may also grow back after drying out. Pandan grass prefers well-draining, organic-rich soils. We add compost once a year.
Pandan Grass (Pandanus amaryllifolius) is a spice grown in Southeast Asia and China for its fragrant leaves. The leaves produce a compound responsible for the aroma of white bread, Basmati and Jasmine rice.
