Naval orange: This is the sweet orange variety for fresh eating. The fruit is medium to large, and the tree size depends on the subvariety. The fruits have an attractive orange colour even in the warmer subtropics, with thick, easy-to-peel skin. They are very juicy and used for juicing, jams, marmalade, pickling and candied citruses. It has a good shelf life without refrigeration—a very low-maintenance tree. Like many citrus trees, it is drought and heat tolerant. Add compost thrice yearly or four times if it bears fruits continuously or if potted. Water once or twice weekly. Preventive measures for all citrus trees should include leaf miner, citrus scale, Aphids, fungus and caterpillars. Cuttings are suitable for rooting or grafting.

NB: Seedless citrus varieties may develop seeds when cross-pollinated with other varieties.
