Custard apple, or sugar apple (A. squamosa), thrives in warm, sunny, sheltered locations with well-drained, sandy or loamy soil. Propagate from healthy seeds or semi-hardwood cuttings in warmth. Prune the tree lightly during its dormant period to maintain an open canopy.
