Zambia, located in southern Africa, experiences a fascinating interplay of weather patterns throughout the year. The cold season, which is relatively mild compared to other regions, brings about a unique transformation in the landscape. As temperatures gradually decrease, the flora responds in diverse ways, with some plants entering dormancy while others change leaf colour.
The colour changes create a captivating sight akin to the autumn and fall seasons experienced in other parts of the world. Despite the apparent bareness of some trees, the season also heralds the blooming of vibrant flowers, adding a touch of colour to the urban landscape. We share a gallery of the Subtropical Urban Eden during our cold season.
This month’s activities include pruning and trimming dormant trees and vines, collecting and rooting cuttings, harvesting citrus fruits and pest control.
