White mulberry plants are host to silkworms and are more prolific, hence more suitable in areas with livestock. Morus Alba (white mulberry) and Morus rubra (red mulberry) eventually turn purple or black. Red mulberry has prominent male flowers that produce copious amounts of pollen that may increase the yeilds of other exotic mulberry varieties. White mulberries are moisture suitable for drying due to lower moisture content. NB: Mulberry plants have extensive root systems that may damage subterranean structures. It is advisable to plant them in containers if the property is small.
