The fruits are tart when raw, becoming sweetly acidic when red and ripe. It is relatively low maintenance. The regular tree is a large tree but may be potted to restrict its size. The dwarf shrub produced tasty miniature-sized fruits and ornamental purple flowers. It has a spreading habit.
