About Cotton Plant
Cotton plants, part of the Malvaceae family, are fast-growing shrubs requiring minimal maintenance. They are drought and disease-tolerant, adding beauty to the garden with their multiple flowers and attractive leaves. They may attract white flies or mealybugs if neighbouring plants are infested. Cotton plants can grow in pots or the ground, in full sun or semi-shade. While typically annual, they may become perennial under favourable conditions. After harvesting cotton, the plants regenerate more flowers and cotton. Currently, the cotton plants are in bloom.
Cotton Seeds And Cotton Wool
It has lovely flowers that develop into cotton wool, which can be harvested and separated from the seeds. The cotton wool must be washed and thoroughly dried to prevent mould in pillows and crafts. Although not sterile, it is still useful but unsuitable for medical purposes. The seeds can remain viable in a cool, dark, dry cupboard. Despite containing protein and oil, they are typically used in feedstocks. The seeds are toxic to humans and some animals due to gossypol but can be processed to produce consumable oil.
