Coffee plants have been doing well despite the less-than-ideal growing conditions. However, we received more rain this year than in the last few years. Consequently, the coffee plants thrived even more. The trees in direct sunlight experienced dieback of epical branches. However, the extra rainfall and humidity allowed the epical branches to regenerate and produce flowers.
The older plants produced heavier crops, and the younger plants started producing fruits earlier. The coffee plants did not have any challenges with fungal infections, probably due to the cooler weather that came with the rains and good general plant health. The trees have received a dose of composted chicken manure and mulch. The fruits will mature and ripen when the weather is dry and windy, allowing them to dry on the trees before harvesting.
