Blackberries, Raspberries, Elderberries and Mulberries in 2024
Blackberries, raspberries, elderberries and mulberries were constants in our garden. The berry plants thrive in pots and small spaces. Despite the drought and excessive heat, the berry plants continue to thrive. The plants spread to fill the spaces between the fruit trees. The blackberries climbed on fences and other plants. Berries are rich in vitamins and antioxidants. They have short flowering to harvest times. Berry plants produce at least two crops a year in our climate. Blackberry, raspberry, and elderberry may grow throughout the year unless pruned back. Berry plants are a good investment in drought-prone subtropical urban areas with minimal maintenance. The gallery shows the berries in our Subtropical Urban Eden in 2024.
