Makrut lime (kaffir lime)
Makrut lime (kaffir lime) is a relatively small-medium-sized tree. It grows best in pots. The fruits are seedy with a rough rind. They are grown for the peel and leaves used to spice up Asian cuisine. They have little juice and long shelf life. They are more tropical than most citrus varieties, preferring semi-shade to full sun. Add compost thrice yearly or four times if it bears fruits continuously or if potted. Water once or twice weekly. Preventive measures for all citrus trees should include leafminer, citrus scale, Aphids, and caterpillars. Cuttings are suitable for rooting or grafting.
