Grow Where You Are
`Spending time in nature is about more than productivity, relaxation, and meditation. Nature is an incredibly profound teacher, offering invaluable lessons. Some of the most remarkable ideas have stemmed from those who have learned to interpret nature’s language to communicate with us. Therefore, the next time you find yourself working or strolling in a garden, forest, or farm, take a moment to appreciate the marvels nature reveals and consider how you can incorporate them into your own life.”
A potted nopales plant fell over due to excessive growth. We did not get to pot them all, especially with the drought-mitigating activities. We piled them under an avocado tree. The cacti did not die after several months. The bottom pads separated from each other to support the pads growing on top. The cactus pads at the top reciprocate by not growing as tall as the potted plants, allowing them to need less water and nutrients. They continue photosynthesis and return nutrients to the bottom pads, eventually forming roots. They live within their means, preventing them from depleting the bottom pads.
Start by setting good foundations to increase your resources and invest in more permanent ventures (roots).
If the top pads grew to their full potential, they would deplete the button pads and later kill the top pads. If we are greedy, taking from others until they cannot sustain themselves, later come back to destroy us. Never take from those who support you to the point where they no longer care about your existence because you only take and give nothing.
The plants initially grew on the lawn without soil because the bottom pads used their inherent water and nutrients to feed the top pads despite the drought conditions. The skills, abilities, and relationships we invest in can hold us through tough times. So, build yourself sincerely to have a firm foundation when challenging times come.
Pretending to build yourself to impress others is unwise because actual ability lies within. They will fail to hold you up when everything depends on what you were meant to have when hardships strike—nature and life work by a clock. Squandering our time may leave us unprepared when the time comes. The cacti are known as a survival plant when stranded in a place without water. Breaking open a pad and squeezing the water to drink can provide water and electrolytes to make it to water. The reputation of the cacti is what it fell on to use for itself to survive drought in unfavourable times. It would have failed to sustain its life if the reputation were false. What we give to others will one day be tested.
As we develop as individuals, we acquire valuable skills that enable us to contribute meaningfully. We refine these skills by assisting others, often without realizing that we are effectively addressing our future challenges. Ultimately, we benefit from these experiences, cultivating a diverse skill set that proves invaluable during difficult periods. Giving is a profound joy, as we receive much more than we give. Therefore, do not hesitate to offer assistance, even when those you help may not be able to reciprocate. Your reward often surpasses anything another person can provide. You receive a full and abundant life where nothing is expected to find the means to survive.
We will carefully plant the Nopales cacti into pots. When we witness effort, we will provide support and encouragement. Invest in yourself so that others may have confidence in you. Nature truly embodies valuable lessons proven by the hardships it faces and overcomes. We all have opportunities to gain experience, regardless of material possessions. Making do with fewer resources when acquiring more is not an option yields the same positive impact as producing more. If all else fails, gather and preserve as much as possible until the conditions are more favourable for growth. Challenges are not insurmountable obstacles but signals prompting us to alter our ways to emerge from tough times. Nature does not merely instruct you on what to do; it demonstrates how to do it.
Nature always manages to overcome challenges, often surprising us with the resilience of seemingly unlikely plants that survive and thrive. In the same way, we can navigate difficult times by making the most of the resources available, diversifying our efforts, and moving towards more favourable circumstances. Engaging in activities that help us develop skills, build resources, and cultivate resilience during tough times can be a launching pad for the next phase of our lives.
