One of the daunting challenges when growing table grapes is finding varieties resilient enough to withstand the prolonged dry season. We experience moderately warm winters, persistent pest pressure, and frequent droughts. While numerous grape varieties manage to survive and bear fruit, the overall harvest quality is often compromised. The climate may affect the colour, size, and, most importantly, the flavour of the grapes. In the last few years, we pursued grape varieties that consistently yield superior quality. The need for sweetness in less-than-ideal growing conditions has identified two more promising new varieties. Hence, we anticipate they will be available for purchase before the onset of the rainy season after years of exhaustive research.
Black Seedless
The luscious black grapes boast seedless, generously sized bunches and tightly packed clusters. In consistently damp weather, the bunches may develop a touch of mildew. Their sweet slip skins and potential to be dried as raisins make them a delightful treat. When consumed whole, the peels impart a lovely acidity, flavour, and appearance reminiscent of blueberries. Whether enjoyed as a quick snack, transformed into juice, jelly, jams, or added to fruit salads, these versatile grapes. They yield at least two bountiful crops each year.
Green Seeded Grape
The green-seeded variety yields plentiful, medium-sized bunches and big, well-aerated grapes. The loose grapes protect them against bruising and mildew, resulting in a delightful, sweet flavour with minimal acidity. Our vines are so productive that they yield two bountiful crops annually. These superb grapes are perfect for enjoying as a healthy snack or adding flavour to fruit salads.
Both varieties flourish in the ground and large pots, thriving with their rapid growth and low-maintenance nature. Upon completing quality testing, we anticipate an expanded selection of fruit varieties for sale.
