Citrus Trees: Lessons Learned In 2023 Part 1

Lime Trees

Despite last year’s drought, our lime trees produced a fantastic harvest. We gathered several crops of Tahitian, calamansi and West Indian limes, with the West Indian and calamansi lime varieties proving to be the most fruitful due to their small size. While our Makrut limes experienced some struggle when placed in full sun, we found they thrived in areas with semi-shade. Our mature lime trees received the same care as in previous years, such as composting three times a year, mulching as available, and consistent watering. These versatile trees are adaptable to full sun or semi-shade and will reward you with abundant, delicious fruit. They proved to be the most resilient and productive citrus trees of 2023.
